INT. BROOKLYN HOSPITAL CENTER, HOSPITAL ROOM - DAY

We are in a crowded hospital room. It's March 18th in the year 2005. The sun is rising through the windows, and we see a woman, 30, with family surrounding the incubator, all holding flowers and balloons.

The newborn is crying, a baby girl, small and frail.

A grandfather places an orange and white stuffed cat in the mother's bed. A younger blonde woman places a stuffed purple bunny with a silk bow.

A man, 34, approaches the incubator with a camcorder. He zooms in close to the crying newborn.

MAN

Emmy, say hi to the camera!

It's your daddy talkin'!

CUT TO:

Hi! I'm Emily-Ana Hernandez, a screenwriter, script-supervisor and filmmaker based in NYC, currently studying Film and Television at LaGuardia CC. I’m drawn to stories that live right in the in-between-- coming-of-age moments, emotional messiness, and the kind of trauma that lingers just under the surface. My writing leans more into drama, dark comedy, and teen angst — usually with characters who are doing their best or being the complete worst.

I’ve written and directed three short films so far, including Just Another Day, which won “Best Script of 2025” at the Thompson Avenue Film Festival. I also made a short documentary my island's (Puerto Rico) history— a project that pushed me to think more deeply about voice, perspective, and how my own background shapes the stories I want to tell.

At the moment, I’m looking for internships, on-set work, and creative opportunities to keep building. Whether it’s through collaboration for another person's vision or seeing one of my own visions come to life, I’m ready to bring new ideas to the big screen!
